Documentation Commission Meeting in Baden-Baden Germany,November 14-15, 1997
PRESENT: Eva-Lis Green (SVT, Sweden), Wolfgang Dehn (SÙdwestfunk,
Germany), Herbert Hayduck (ORF, Austria), Thomas MÙller (SDR, Germany), Adam
Lee (BBC, UK), Annemieke de Jong (NAA, Netherlands), Gùsta Johansson (FIAT/IFTA).
- The FIAT/IFTA Conference 1997 in Budapest was discussed and it was generally
agreed that it was an excellent conference.
- The main topic for the meeting was the Florence Conference 1998 The following
themes and topics were felt to be of interest to the Conference:
- Archive management
- Buying cataloguing from external sources
- Bi-media/multi-media archives - the archives and the users
- Internet and video game archiving
- Updates on Vicar and Euromedia (not as extensive as in Budapest)
- The Value of information
- FIAT/IFTA Free Information Exchange between members
- Computerised translation
- Open access to the catalogue?
- What is the value of the catalogue?
- Data protection laws/company policy
- Integrated information workflow
- DC Seminar report
- Digitisation: What to digitise? How to digitise?
- Standards and Chaos - ISAN
- The P&P Commission was also in Baden-Baden and we had a joint meeting
when we discussed the Florence Conference together.
- DOCUMENTATION SEMINAR It was decided to go ahead with a documentation
seminar. The aim will be to stage a two day seminar. It will be aimed at
senior documentalists and possibly middle management
