MAP-TV Dissolved
MAP-TV was dissolved at a General Assembly extraordinary meeting on October
16.
A communique from MAP-TV states that one of the reasons for this was 'that
it [MAP-TV] had become too dependent on the funds contributed by the European
Commission, which they judged to use non-professional criteria'. The communiqu³
says that due to poor response from the European Commission MAP-TV had not
been able to carry out any of the proposals put forward.
The co-operation between MAP-TV and the European Commission came to a head
on October 7 1997, when the European Commission co-ordinating fraud squad came
to inspect the MAP-TV Executive Secretariat Office. No further action has been
taken by the fraud squad. As MAP-TV obviously no longer had the support of
the European Commission one of its main motives of existence had disappeared
and a decision to dissolve was taken on October 16.
