New Member in FIAT/IFTA:

Head of Archive is Mr Enric Bellveser. The new full member is Radiotelevisió Valenciana (RTVV) which is a Public Broadcasting Service Company that belongs to the Local Government of Valencia (Spain). Two channels of terrestrial television are related to it, Canal 9, that was on the air, regularly, in 1989 and Notäcies 9, that started in 1997; another one via Satellite, Canal Comunitat Valenciana broadcasted in 1997, and is also a Radio Station, Rídio 9, that started its emissions in 1989.

The Documentation Service of RTVV is a network for all the different channels. There are three areas which is very well established: audiovisual, sound and writing, with automated catalogues from a Fujitsu Superserver, J654, in computer and managed with BRS/SEARCH. Actually, we are in the process of digitalizing a part of the archive sources in the writing area. For indexing-linking the files, we are using two thesauruses, one of them is general and the other one is toponimy.

The staff is formed by 18 documentalists and 5 assistants. The language at work is Valencià (a variant of the Catalan language). There is a complete analysis of the whole broadcast emission but the archives with reference to politics, economy, culture, ecology, society, etc..., from Valencia Comunity are the most important and exclusive, besides the fact that there is no geographical borders or cultural ones in the program planning because the aim of the television contents is a very wide and general vision.
