Greetings and Thanks from Vittorio Sette

M ember of the Executive Council, Member of the Programming & Production Commission, Head of Archive at Direzione Audiovideoteche, RAI, Italy. (N.B. This letter was written at the beginning of November 1999.)

Dear friends,

In one month I will leave my position at the RAI and I will be a free man, consulting to some companies, sailing in some sunny sea or be going around as all the other grandfathers in the world.

What can I say? The only sure thing is that I will miss my company and FIAT/IFTA. But, if RAI will be the loved past, FIAT/IFTA will be the present and the future.

I would like to thank all of you for the great honour I had in Santiago de Chile when I was nominated "Honorary Member" of our Federation by the Executive Council and for the standing ovation I got at the end of my speech and the presentation of the CD-ROM "FIAT/IFTA History" in the open forum.

I will try with all my strength to be worthy your fantastic friendship and, if possible, to be present also in the future, at the FIAT/IFTA meetings and to participate in the activities, like I did in the past.

For the very near future I am hosting, in Turin, the meeting of the P & P Commission, November 12-13th (my last official work as RAI representative), on which I am sure we will continue to work for the next FIAT/IFTA World Conference and the General Assembly in Vienna, October 2000, the NEW MILLENNIUM ERA, where I hope to meet you all for a NEW and IMPORTANT STEP of our federation!!

If you will come some time to Italy, please call me and I will be very glad to meet you and to show you my country. And if you are coming to the Winter Olympic Games in 2006 (it is not so far in time because time is running so quickly) in Turin, my gorgeous town, I will be pleased to be your contact point!!
