AT THE BRIDGE BETWEEN ANALOGUE AND DIGITAL/ THE PAST AND THE FUTURE?

WELCOME
The annual FIAT/IFTA world conference will take place in Antalya, Turkey from
October 12 to 18. The conference is being hosted by Turkish Radio & Television
Corporation (TRT). The NEW! venue for the conference
is the Renaissance Antalya Resort,
Antalya, Turkey. Due to contract disagreement with the management of The
Topkapi Palace Hotel, Antalya, we are sorry to inform you that we have to move
the venue of the conference to RENAISSANCE ANTALYA RESORT, Antalya. We are sorry
for the change. Last week, July 19 , three members of the Board - Wolfgang Dehn,
Karl Maier and Tedd Johansen - went to Antalya to negotiate with the management
of the new hotel called: RENAISSANCE ANTALYA RESORT. The result of the meeting
was positive.
We have to make some changes in the programme to make it work. The programme
is still a draft so far. Take a look at the draft programme and you will see
the change: We do not start the conference officially on Sunday 13th October
as previously planned. We start on Monday 14th October. We have to make this
change because the new hotel has too few rooms available for members arriving
on Saturday 12th October.
Those members who have to participate in the Board meeting and the meetings
of the commissions on Sunday 13th October, can do so without any problem with
hotel rooms.
If you have to book a plane ticket connected to a weekend: Saturday/Sunday
to reduce the travelling costs, we advice you to connect the dates to the Saturday/Sunday
after the conference (October 19-20). Take care and welcome to FIAT/IFTA and
welcome to Turkey and Antalya.

The title of the programme is: Media archives: At the bridge between analogue
and digital/the past and the future? Even if the programme is packed, we
are aiming at closing each session in due time. We intend to make it possible
for you to meet fellow members from all over the world to exchange experiences
in the field of audiovisual archives. We know that many of you are confused
about the new technology called the digital world. Anyway, we have to go on
making it possible for you to deal with the new challenge. Nevertheless we do
not forget the daily life of your archive - a life far away from the digital
world!
The GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The General Assembly will take place for Full Members only, on Wednesday 16th
October. On the agenda is the election of the new President and new members to
the Board . Full Members who have not paid the Fee the last two years, must do
so if they want to take part in the election. This is not the case for those Full
Members who have been granted one year's membership without paying the fee. Those
members who will not make it taking part in the election, may transfer their vote
to another member present at the meeting. Each member is only allowed to receive
one vote from members not present at the assembly. Information about the transfer
of votes must be given to the General Secretary in advance.
THE DRAFT PROGRAMME
Take a look at the draft programme. We are also interested in focusing on matters
of importance for archives where the introduction of new technology is not on
the agenda of the company. We hope you find the programme interesting. Take
a look at the different workshops and make up your mind where you want to participate.
REGISTRATION
You need to fill out and send two forms (Word docs): A registration
form for the conference and one for the Hotel
registration at the Renaissance Antalya Resort.
