Los Archivos Sonoros y Visuales en America Latina

Seminario Internacional, Mexico City

Due to the success of the international seminar in Mexico City in November 2001 initiated by the FIAT/IFTA Latin American Regional Group (LARG), Radio Educacion has decided to set up a new seminar in Mexico City in May 2003. The aim of the seminar was finally decided during the workshop for Latin Americans at the FIAT/IFTA conference in Turkey, Antalya in October 2002.

The host for the seminar is CONACULTA / Radio Educacion in Mexico City. International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA), UNESCO and Federation Internationale des Archives du Film (FIAF) are also invited to participate.

The target group for the seminar are Latin Americans but any FIAT member who is interested can join. Officially FIAT is dedicated to work for the seminar. Unfortunately, this year there is no sponsor supporting the event. The seminar in Mexico City in November 2001 was sponsored by Ascential Software, USA, a former FIAT member.

The preliminary programme for the seminar has been made by Radio Educacion : Lidia Camacho, Directora General, and Perla Olivia Rodriguez Resendiz - both participated at the FIAT conference in Antalya last year. The preliminary programme so far contents interesting lectures about radio, sound and television archives. The audiovisual archives in Mexico will be presented. FIAT members like Annemieke de Jong, Tedd Urnes (former Johansen), Richard Wright, Amira Arrata,... will be lecturing.

The venue in Mexico City. The dates are May 19-23, 2003. For those of you who do not speak Spanish, English translations will be provided.

Welcome to Mexico.
