FIAT IFTA AwardsEverywhere in the world, audiovisual archive treasures are waiting to be discovered ! FIAT AwardsThe Television Archive Award is given for the best use of audiovisual archival material in a television programme. The Award has been running since 1994. The shortlisted programmes are presented at the Annual World Conference. The winner is announced at the closing dinner of the Conference. You are invited to take part in the nomination process. Please tell others in your country about the existence of these special worldwide Award and encourage them to take part as well. Over the years, hundreds of television programs from all over the world have been competing. The winners and shortlisted programs of the Awards are honoured in the FIATHall of Fame.
FIAT Award 2008The FIAT Award honours a television production first broadcast or produced in 2007, which is significantly based on, and makes best use of audiovisual archive material. The producers of the three shortlisted productions will be invited to the Award ceremony during the Annual Conference 2008 in Copenhagen as guests of FIAT/IFTA. Nomination / shortlisting / screeningFIAT will stream the shortlisted programmes in low res on a secure FIAT website (access will be limited to the FIAT community only); show the programs to the delegates at the FIAT Conference and invite the producer of each shortlisted programme to present their programmes at the conference. Any media organization and/or FIAT/IFTA member can nominate one programme Nomination forms in French or English must give a detailed description of the reason for the nomination; the programme concept and content in English or French. For the FIAT Award 2008, the nomination form together with a DVD - and if possible subtitled in English or French -, must be sent to the address below by 31st March 2008. Nominations, which arrive after this deadline, cannot be considered for the FIAT Award. The official screening followed by the voting will take place as follows: Each shortlisted producer will have the chance of a maximum 5 minutes introduction of his programme, then 15 minutes of the producer’s selected sequences will be screened. Therefore, in case of being shortlisted, producers of nominated programmes should agree to produce a screening DVD of max. 15 minutes length, which has to be sent to the address mentioned below at August 15th, 2008, at the latest. Each conference delegate will be entitled to vote in a secret ballot after the screening. RulesThe FIAT Award will be open to television programmes first transmitted or produced in any country in 2007, which display outstanding use of audiovisual archival material. This material must represent a significant contribution to the programme. Please noteParticipants in the Awards gives FIAT/IFTA the authority to display the programme in the membership area of the FIAT/IFTA website, to duplicate the DVD for internal use of FIAT/IFTA and to screen the programme at the FIAT/IFTA Conference. The submitter of the entry indemnifies FIAT against any claims that might arise out of its use of any usual materials supplied to support a submission. In case of being shortlisted, the producer will accept to make a short version at a maximum of 15 minutes – at least subtitled in Enlish or French - for the official screening.
